The Evolution
An idea for an art project that required the silhouette of a woman had me asking a friend for help. She agreed to pose for me and we began the process. We got to talking and she expressed that she rarely felt beautiful, but more so how she always felt objectified and only wanted for her body. She was happy to help, but she was worried about the pictures making her look “like a slut”. While doing the edits, I tried very hard to show her in a softer tone, accentuating her beauty while not taking away from her sexuality. She was so thrilled with the end result stating she could never have imagined looking so beautiful and was surprised with how I portrayed her. She felt comfortable throughout the whole process, and ultimately this helped her see herself in a different light. She encouraged me to do more work like this and help others feel same experience.
To her; I will always be grateful to you for being brave enough to pose, but more so for being supportive enough to help me grow. I make sure everyone I work with knows it was you who made this possible.
